Efforts
For Increasing Irrigation Potential
The perennial rivers viz. Krishna and Koyana flow throughout the area of
operation of this factory. The water stored in the upper stream is let out in the river
frequently which makes available assured supply of water for lift irrigation.In order to
utilise this full source of potential a separate irrigation cell have been set up at
factory level. This cell have been set up at factory level. This cell by one way remove
the technical defects of existing scheme and brings in increase in area under their
command. By other way survey, execution etc. of new lift irrigation is also done on
priority basis.

Lift Irrigation Schemes Sponsered by Sahyadri Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd.
In order to irrigate un-irrigated lands the Sahyadri Sakhar Karkhana erected following
co-operative Lift Irrigation Schemes with the help of Satara District Central Co-operative
Bank Ltd. And other banks by taking loan on the lands of beneficiary members. The details
of the same are as under

Kolhapur
Types Weirs
Krishna river flow village to Khodashi. Kolhapur Type Weir in the area of operation for
length of 30 KM. Inorder to have permanent assured water supply to the Karkhana sponsored
Lift irrigation Schemes as well as private Lift Irrigation Schemes. On recommendations of
the Karkhana Maharashtra Govt. Irrigation Dept. Constructed K.T. weirs as following sites |

- Perle-Lakkadwada weir, Perle
- Bhuyachiwadi K.T. Weir, Bhuyachiwadi.
- Konegaon K.T. weir, Konegaon

Canal
Irrigation
Arphal Canal runs from K.M. 34 (Rahimatpur) to KM. 85 (Oglewadi) in the area of operation.
Karkhana had made special efforts for early completion of canal work at Govt. Level as a
result in December 1999. The water is released through Arphal Canal in our area of
operation. 14000 hect. Area of villages will be irrigated by the canal irrigation.
The area about 5000 Hect.
Wrong side of the Canal was not irrigated. Hon. Balasaheb Patil, Chairman of Sahyadi
Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana made special efforts at Govt. Level as results following 2 Lift
irrigation Schemes sanctioned by the Govt. of Maharahtra and the above area will be
irrigated by the above Lift Irrigation Schemes. |
